Our Comprehensive Child ADHD Evaluation

We use gold-standard assessment methods to ensure accurate diagnosis

Parent Interview (60-90 minutes)

Detailed discussion of your child's developmental history, current symptoms, family history, school performance, social functioning, and previous interventions. We'll explore symptoms across home, school, and social settings.

Child Interview & Observation

Age-appropriate clinical interview with your child to understand their perspective, observe their behavior, assess attention and impulse control, and build rapport. We make this comfortable and non-threatening for children.

Teacher Rating Scales

Standardized questionnaires completed by teachers (Conners, Vanderbilt, BASC) to assess symptoms in the school setting. School input is crucial for ADHD diagnosis as symptoms must be present in multiple settings.

Parent Rating Scales

Evidence-based questionnaires (Conners Parent Rating Scale, ADHD Rating Scale, Behavior Assessment System) to quantify symptom severity and track progress over time.

Cognitive & Attention Testing

Computerized tests of sustained attention, impulsivity, and working memory (CPT-3, IVA-2). May include brief IQ screening if learning disabilities are suspected. These provide objective data beyond behavioral observations.

Academic Achievement Screening

Brief assessment of reading, writing, and math skills to identify any learning disabilities that may co-occur with ADHD or contribute to academic difficulties.

Co-Occurring Conditions Assessment

Screening for anxiety, depression, oppositional defiant disorder, autism spectrum, learning disabilities, and other conditions that commonly co-occur with ADHD (up to 70% of children with ADHD have at least one other condition).

School Records Review

Review of report cards, standardized test scores, IEP/504 documents if available, and teacher comments to understand academic trajectory and previous interventions.

Parent FAQs About Child ADHD Testing

At what age can you test for ADHD?

We can evaluate children as young as age 4, though ADHD is most reliably diagnosed starting around age 6 when children enter school. For very young children (4-5), we focus on ruling out other causes and often recommend re-evaluation after starting kindergarten.

Will testing upset or stress my child?

No! We make testing comfortable and engaging. We use games, breaks, and positive reinforcement. Most children find it interesting and even fun. We never pressure or stress children during testing.

Does my child need to stop medication before testing?

Not necessarily. We can test on or off medication depending on the purpose. We'll discuss this during the initial consultation based on your situation.

How much does child ADHD testing cost?

Costs vary based on evaluation complexity. Many insurance plans cover ADHD testing for children. We'll verify your benefits before scheduling. Payment plans available for self-pay families.

Will the school accept your evaluation?

Yes. Our comprehensive evaluations meet all criteria for 504 Plan and IEP eligibility. Schools throughout the area regularly accept our reports for accommodation decisions.

What if my child has other issues besides ADHD?

Our evaluation screens for co-occurring conditions like anxiety, learning disabilities, autism, and mood disorders. We'll identify all issues affecting your child and make appropriate referrals.

Do you recommend medication for every child?

No. Treatment recommendations are individualized. For some children, behavioral interventions and school accommodations are sufficient. We'll discuss all options and help you make informed decisions.

Can you help coordinate with our child's school?

Absolutely. We provide detailed accommodation recommendations, can attend 504/IEP meetings, and consult with teachers to ensure proper implementation of supports.
